Mexico journal: coconuts

When I was set on a path to Mexico, I expected many many things.

What I haven’t expected is that I’d fall in love and miss coconuts so much.

I’ve not been a fan of coconut water per-se, but I guess that was because I never had a fresh and ripe coconut open for me. Now that I have, I miss the whole ritual of going to the “coconut man” where you get your water and meat for the day or two.

Every few days one would go to the “coconut guy”. Some (e.g. in Tulum) also offer “delivery” service which I thought was great.

You get the water (previous photo) and the meat. You provide the containers so in a way the process is fully ecological.

You can obviously get one to go as well.

When renting a boat one can request a coconut service as well.

Side note: 150% crops from the SL2 are damn sharp

Anyways, I just wanted to appreciate the tradition I would never have considered previously.
