MIA: where is Bruno

This blog, like most of my social media outlets, has been a little bit quiet for the past couple of months and I’d like to take some time to explain why that has happened and what' I’ve been up to.

First and foremost, I have moved. It has not been a large move by any stretch (less than a block down the road, really), but it came at a rather inconvenient time with many things happening around it. Long story short, it’s done and our new flat is infinitely nicer (albeit with a bit less space) than the last one. Still in London, still PhDing, still itching to travel.

I’ve also started swimming again, with a lovely group of people at ESC Swimming club. It’s been 3 years since I’ve swam with a competitive team and it’s amazing to have people kicking my ass once again.

Finally, there was (still is?) the CVPR. For some time I was pushing two projects (one alone, one with amazing collaborators), and I’ve tried to pour all my energy into it as I’ve yet to complete a project since starting my PhD. I’m happy to say that one of them has been successfully submitted to the conference (well before the CMT crashed, thus failing to experience the joys and wonders of an 8am deadline), and I’m looking forward to sharing it on arxiv in the coming weeks. That lifted a massive burden off my shoulders, and I’m hoping to plunge into the rest of the course with a bit more vigour and excitement.

Now, when all is done, I’m currently in the US taking the full advantage of the new ESTA situation and meeting my friends and adopted family for Thanksgiving. In the meantime, I’m trying to process pictures from France, Croatia and Scotland, whilst simultaneously taking new ones now when I’m visiting Boston like a tourist again, all the while enjoying the companionship of my new roommate.
