When faced with 72hrs in Madrid instead of running to all the “touristy” places, we chose to walk, listen to the music, and even (gasp) to attempt conversation with the locals.

The city is constantly rebuilding itself. Mornings were reserved for maintenance in the posher areas (Salamanca).
Protests agains privatisation of the national healthcare (SNS).
SNS is a topic of many political platforms, it's decentralised and Madrid branch (SERMAS) is estimated to serve over 6 million people.
